Choosing Wireless TV Headphones

It's pretty obvious why someone would want wireless TV headphones. No one wants to be attached to their television with wires, so the choice of wireless over wired headphones is a no brainer as long as you're not an audiophile. If you are, and if you do notice every little sound discrepancy, then wireless is simply not for you, and you need a good wired set of headphones.

Convenience Of Wireless Headphones For TV

If you're of the normal type who doesn't really discern between, say, stock speakers on a car and aftermarket in sound quality alone, then wireless TV headphones are a good choice. There may be times when, although they're sharing a room with the television, someone in the home doesn't want to hear the TV. This is when a good wireless TV headphone set comes in really handy since the only one who will be able to hear the TV is the one watching it. I know that I enjoy having my wife in the same room as me, but sometimes I need to concentrate on working and find that the television is distracting. Since it's behind me, I don't really see it, but I can hear it. A set of wireless headphones for TV would be ideal in this situation.

A Wireless TV Headphone Set May Increase Audio Quality

Also, a good set of wireless headphones for TV will direct and optimize the sound for one person as opposed to many. Even those who aren't audiophiles will hear a difference. Stereo is much more...stereo, and there's various sounds that you simply missed before that will come in loud and clear. A lot of science goes in to optimizing speakers, so it stands to reason that if there's only one person listening, it makes a lot of sense to have speakers that are pointed at that one person and intended only for that one person. Your television was designed to produce sound that was meant to be heard by many people - a whole room full if necessary. As opposed to wireless TV headphones, certain sacrifices would've been made to broaden the range of the speakers much further than the one sitting right in front. This may or may not negate the impact that simply being wireless can have on audio quality.

Types Of Wireless TV Headphones

There are really two, but sort of three different types of wireless headphones. There's infrared, RF (radio frequency), and Bluetooth. Bluetooth is actually RF on a very limited scale, which is good for reducing interference both to and from the Bluetooth device, but obviously bad for range. Infrared operates off a beam of light that travels directly from the transmitter, which would be plugged into the television's headphone jack (or possibly component jacks), to a receiver that sits on the headset. RF works similar to a cordless phone and shares that same range, which brings both the advantages of extended usability and the disadvantages of vastly increased interference.

Comparing Types Of Wireless Headphones For TV

Odds are pretty good that anything radio, RF wireless TV headphone sets not excluded, will pick up something else radio in today's technologically active world. It could be anything from the electromagnetic field that some equipment puts out on its own to your neighbor's conversation on their cordless phone, but you can bet that something will cause RF to be the least clear of the group of choices here. However, it's also the only type that will allow you to walk around the full range of your home and never lose connection. Infrared will likely give you the best sound quality, but cannot be used outdoors and the receiver must remain within line of sight of the transmitter at all times.

Choosing Between Over-The-Head and On-The-Ear Bluetooth Headphones

To serve many different lifestyles, habits, and preferences, Bluetooth headphones come in many different shapes and sizes. Depending on your intended use for your headphones, you can choose between on-the-ear headsets or over-the-head headsets.

On-the-ear Bluetooth headphones are placed on the ear opening. They can be used by clipping or fitting the earphone buds to the ear opening. These kinds are usually less bulky than the over-the-head headphones. Since these use Bluetooth technology, there are no wires used for connectivity.

These kinds of headphones are typically used by people usually when taking calls on the go. Because people would want to multitask, they take calls while shopping, cooking, walking, doing the dishes, changing diapers, or doing anything else. On-the-ear headphones actually complement the Bluetooth technology that they use. While the Bluetooth technology allows you connectivity even if you are meters away from the source, an on-the-ear headphone allows you to take hands-free calls. It gives your hands freedom to do other things while talking to someone over the phone.

Choosing Between Over-The-Head and On-The-Ear Bluetooth Headphones

You can also multitask while exercising and listening to music with an on-the-ear Bluetooth headset. Music does get you more into your aerobic routines, or simply just to provide you with a fast beat that you can move with. If you are doing some meditation, music from your on-the-ear headphone sets the right mood and atmosphere.

On-the-ear headphones would not complicate your look. If you are in the office, it would look like an ear accessory, unlike over-the-head headphones that band around your head. On-the-ear headphones are almost unnoticeable and are not distracting to look at.

Meanwhile, over-the-head headphones also use Bluetooth, so they also do not require wires. They are placed atop your head and are fastened using a band. The band varies from slim metal bands to wide foam- or rubber-made headphone bands. The sound goes out the part covering your ears like earmuffs. They can be placed in their cradle when not in use and can function as desktop speakers.

If you are more into the quality of the sound, you should opt for the over-the-head headphones. They usually feature sound surround quality audio and noise canceling capability. Over-the-head headsets are typically used mostly by video or audio editors, recording artists, gamers, film watchers, and disc jockeys. You can prefer this if you use it at home or at a recording studio. It is bulky to look at but is very functional and provides a higher sound quality and capacity than an on-the-ear headphone.

Again, your choice of style or design will depend on your intended use for your Bluetooth headphones, so make sure that you are clear beforehand about your purpose before you make any choice.

Choosing the Right Car Speakers For Your Vehicle

There are a myriad of options available in the market when it comes to car speakers, and buying the right ones may be your biggest problem. So let's take a look at the different types of car speakers that you can choose from to help you to decide for yourself.

Coaxial Car Speaker System
The most common type of car speakers are called coaxial speakers. Usually most car manufacturers will include at least a pair of coaxial car speakers in their models. Coaxial speakers are available as 2-way-, 3 way and 4-way speakers depending on their configuration or to be more specific the number of tweeters in the system. The most basic version of coaxial speakers, the kind that you would generally find in older cars has mid range cone woofers capable of producing mid range sounds. But the latest versions will also include at least one tweeter for high frequency reproduction. A tweeter is a device that helps your system to reproduce high frequency sounds, minimize sound distortion and gives clearer and more defined sounds. An increase in the number of tweeters will add more details to the sound. So while two way coaxial car speakers have one tweeter, three way speakers would include two tweeters and so on.

Many car manufacturers talk about the amazing effects of the 6 piece car speaker system in their models. But essentially this system just includes 4 mid range woofers with 2 detached tweeters and this is what you would get normally as well when you buy a car. So, if you are being charged extra for this you know you are being cheated.

Choosing the Right Car Speakers For Your Vehicle

Component Car Speaker System
A component car speaker system comprises of mid-range woofers, tweeters and cross over filter networks. However, the tweeter in the component car speaker system is separate with the cross over filters added for increased sound clarity. The filters channel sounds that are component specific that is only a sound range that can be handled by a specific component is channeled to it. For example, only high frequency sounds will be channeled to the tweeters that are capable of handling them while the low frequency sounds are channeled to the mid-range woofers. This significantly improves the sound quality by minimizing disruptions and distortions.

If you were to compare the two car speaker systems, namely coaxial and component, in terms of their price, the component car speaker systems are considerably more expensive. But the better sound quality makes up for the increased cost. Generally a three way component car speaker system is more than adequate to produce impressive sound quality. Since most new cars come with pre-installed or factory installed car speakers you may want to check if they have the cross over filters.

The material of the car speaker components is of equal importance if you want the speakers to last for long. Usually cones are either made of the thinner materials like cloth or paper or they are made of denser materials like glass, fiber, Kevlar or polypropylene. However, it would be incorrect to suggest that the material of the cone is the only thing responsible for better sound quality. The quality of the sound produced by the car speakers depends more on the entire assembly that includes the magnet size, voice coil type etc.

As far as surrounding material for your car speakers is concerned it is best to go for denser material since the cheaper varieties usually use foam that cracks easily when subjected to temperature variations.

Ultimately, the type of car speakers that you choose should depend on the sound quality that you require.
